Dear Friends,
As 2025 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting with gratitude and excitement on the remarkable year our beloved IOIBD has shared. We not only continued to lead and “set the direction” for IBD globally—we also made tremendous progress on our comprehensive strategic review and developed IOIBD2030, a plan that will guide and inspire us for the next five years.

This year, we thoughtfully revisited our organizational Vision and Mission, and, with the rising incidence and prevalence of IBD in mind, we positioned ourselves to face new realities with clarity and purpose. We are preparing to meet the challenges of care, to deepen our understanding of the causes and features of these “modern IBDs,” and to explore innovative directions that reflect the needs of the moment. We are doing so with a deep appreciation for the resource limitations faced in many regions around the world, and with a renewed commitment to collaboration that can drive meaningful change.

I am immensely proud to be part of this organization, profoundly grateful for the contributions and leadership of every member, and genuinely optimistic about 2026, when many of our shared efforts will begin to take shape—all in service of a healthier, better world.

Wishing you a season filled with joy and meaning, and every good thing in the New Year. I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Warmly,
David
